FLUIID BODY

a training system by common knowledge dance

Welcome! My name is Alicia Raquel Morales. I am a dancer & choreographer from Oakland & South Berkeley, CA, now based in Lenapehoking, or Brooklyn. I found my passion for fitness through my love of dance & physical practice, & have been training myself & others for athletic and expressive performance, injury prevention & recovery, & the  joy of movement since 2006.

I hold my BS in Dance & Choreography, my trainers certification from the International Sports Sciences Association, and have training in Bartenieff Fundamentals, Rhythmetrics, and MELT, and served as a wellness coach for leaders & organizers.

  • As a trainer, my goal is to help you:

    • Build strength, mobility, and fluidity.

    • Identify clear, achievable goals that matter to you, and follow a responsive and science backed process to reach them.

    • Deepen your mind–body connection through intentional physical practice.

    • Commit to sustained effort. There are no quick fixes, but showing up consistently always yields results.

    • Support your whole self—mind, body, and spirit—through the process.

My approach is body-positive, inclusive of different abilities, rigorous, and client-centered. I will challenge you, support you, and give you the tools and information you need to take your fitness into your own hands.

I love the beach and the river, slow cooked food, and sipping café con leche on a balcony.

  • Q: Do I have to already know my way around the gym or how to work out?

A: No! With physical practice, you can always start from where you are. I am happy to meet you there.

Q: What if I’m an advanced practitioner? Do you have anything to offer me?

A: Yes. I am a dancer and am well equipped to help athletes take their training to the next level of nuance, skill & most importantly results.

Q: What are the space requirements to train me at a location I choose?

A: Any space where we train must be well lit and clean, and have the space and equipment required by your specific program. Depending on your location, a travel fee may apply. Email me at alicia@commonknownledgedance.com for more information.

Q: I am recovering from an injury. Can I work with you?

A: Yes! I have a lot of experience designing strength and mobility program for full recovery post injury. You must be medically cleared in order to train with me.

Q: What kind of goals do you train people for?

A: Functional strength, healthy aging, athletic and creative pursuits, building muscle and definition, injury prevention and recovery, stress management, overall health, and physical ease.

    Q: What about weight loss?

A: Our culture is unfortunately saturated with fat phobia and body shame, both incredibly harmful to health and sustainable physical practice.

I approach weight change goals by looking at basic nutrition, movement and recovery. We assess what your body needs, and do our best to provide. Any changes in weight happen as a result of that new equilibrium.

If you’re into this kind of holistic approach, come on through! If your goal is to target weight loss aggressively or in isolation from other factors impacting your health and wellbeing, I may not be the best trainer for you.
